Dent of London Fusee Wall Clock c. 1840

“One of the best preserved Fusee timepieces we’ve come across” – Chris Ball

A mid-sized (13 in/ 330mm) and very attractive early Victorian Wall Clock in rich hardwood case, polished by the sands of time and by us last week with beeswax!

The dark ivory coloured hand painted dial reads:

4 Royal Exchange

& 61 Strand

All the letters and roman numerations remain in superb condition. Stylised black hands provide a stately contrast to the warm dial tones.

The case front and movement is attached via four pins. In this instance the clock retains its original carved bone bracket pins. It is unusual to see all four still in place.

A brass pendulum is accessed via a right-hand door and a trap door at the 6 o’clock.

The brass plate Fusee movement, manufactured by Dent has been fully serviced and is warranted for 5 years.

The clock is presented with a period (possibly original) case key and features a working lockable brass & glass dial front and hatch.

Please note that the shapes you may see on the dial when the glass front is closed are reflections of other clocks in the background.
